St Francis Of Assisi School Fair!

At St Francis Of Assisi School we are lucky enough to be having a school fair which occurs on March 8th 2020! We are going to be having a maze, bouncy castles, raffles, food and even a fun zone which I will be talking to you about. In the Kaupeka hub the teachers have put us 7/8 students in charge of the Fun Zone which is for the younger kids coming to the fair. The teachers asked us to come up with a creative and fun game for younger kids to play, my group chose to make ten pin bowling but with six pins as we don't have the time for ten pins. We have been given a week to create this  game! We are about half way there to creating our game. Since our six pin bowling isn't completed yet I dont have a photo but I do have a photo of a prototype which is just down below.

Feel free to come along to the fair there are loads of fun things to do and I'm so excited for it.

How To Play Six Pin Bowling

In the Kaupeka hub we have been writing instructions. Today I am going to share with you my instructions. We have a school fair coming up on March the 8th, the Kaupeka students have to create a game for the younger students to play. My groups game is ten pin bowling, but with six pins instead of ten. Feel free to comment if my instructions were good and told you how to play!

How to play six pin bowling!        Photo of prototype
It is exactly the same as ten pin bowling except with six pins.

1- Firstly, you pick up the ball up with either your right or left hand.

2- Secondly, you swing the ball once and then let it go, and the
ball should roll down the lane right in front of you.

3- Then, you will get another turn.

4- Next, you will roll the soccer ball down the lane again.

5- Then you will repeat this whole process 1 more time.

6- Then, at the end you will get to see how many points you got ( 1 point =
1 pin knocked over )

Did you find these instructions easy to read and why?

So on this blog I am going to share with you my piece of writing on how to wash your hands! ( the red words are the linking words )

Have you ever used linking words?

Welcome Blog!

Kia Ora, and welcome to my first school blog of 2020! I had a blast over the Christmas holidays, I went on holiday to Alexandra, went to the movies, had a great Christmas and did many more cool things! But it's now the beginning of the school year and I wanted to talk to you guys about my goals for this year and what I am looking forward to! So my goals for this year is to make the school jump jam team and the aerobics team, I made it into both last year but for jump jam I was only a reserve, I am also hoping that I could get better at my writing because I was struggling with that a bit last year. But overall I just want to try and have fun at school, learn new things and make new friends! This year I am looking forward to being in a new hub with new faces and new teachers, I am also looking forward to starting up winter sport again but that doesn't start until term 2. I hope you enjoyed my first blog of the new school year and I am excited to share my learning with you!

What are your goals for the new school year?

Week 4- Day 5- Activity 3

Task-
For this activity, please reflect on your experience with the Summer Learning Journey programme this year.
On your blog please tell us:

  1. Which activity you enjoyed the most
  2. Which activity you enjoyed the least
  3. Three things that you learned while completing the programme
  4. What changes/improvements you would make to the programme for next year

My Reflection-
  1. My favorite activity was from week 4, day 3, activity 1! I was talk show host. I liked it because you got to talk about what your future plans are.
  2. The activity I enjoyed the least has to be none of them I enjoyed all of them! All the tasks were very interesting things to write about.
  3. Three things I learnt! I learnt that the designer Kiwi clothing company Twenty Seven Names used to be called Love lies! I also learnt that Jessa Rodgers was  25 years, 3 months and 2 days old when she won the NAIDOC Youth of the Year award! The last thing I learnt was that there was an inspirational singer with my favorite name Savannah!
  4. The changes and improvements I would make to the programme for next year would be to maybe make the activities a tiny bit harder because for me they were quite easy but that's only my opinion!
Thank you for reading my blog I had a great time doing the Summer Learning Journey!

Question- Would you try out the Summer Learning Journey?

Week 4- Day 4- Activity 1

Task-
For this activity, please read this article about where some famous New Zealand brands got their names from. Brand names are very important to companies as this is how they are known.

On your blog, tell us how Twenty Seven Names got their name. Looking at their clothing brand, tell us whether you think this is a good name for them, or if they should change it to something else!

How Twenty Seven Names Got There Name-
The designer Kiwi clothing company started with the name love lies in 2006 but they found out the name was copyrighted by a US company, so they renamed themselves in respect to the 27 people who have helped them along the way. Designer and co-founder of Twenty-Seven Names Anjali Stewart said During a session when we were spitting out other name ideas…we wrote a list of people who helped get the brand out there, there were 27 names on that list. He also said it's the first way most people engage with the brand.

My Opinion On The Name-
In my opinion I think the name is great! I think it's good to have some meaning in the name it's not just called Twenty Seven Names because they thought it was a good name, they called it that because of the 27 names who helped launch there brand and I think that's great!

Do you think they should keep the name or change it to a different one?

Week 4- Day 3- Activity 1

Task-
For this activity, we would love to know more about your interests (passions) and your future plans. What do you think that you would like to do when you are older? Do you have a specific job in mind?

On your blog, please tell us about your future plans (i.e. what you plan to do when you finish high school or college). Would you prefer to start working right away or to continue with your studies?

My Plans-
Right now I am really into doing drama! I do it at Original Scripts theater school in Christchurch! So when i'm older and have finished high school I would like to get into the Wellington drama school! If not I would think about flying to the US and applying for some auditions for a role in a movie or TV show. If that doesn't happen, I would like to maybe start a YouTube channel. Those are some of my thoughts for the future but they might change!
