Our PBL This Term

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is where
you are from, the traditions you have, religions, holidays, stories, reunions and
celebrations.
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our
traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the
world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I Read Maui And The Sun,
How Maui Slowed The Sun, Maui And The Big Fish And The Battle Of The
Mountains. I have retold my own legend called the legend of the Battle
of the Mountains in my own words.

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote
the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard
on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with
dance and drama.

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by
creating dances and taking
part in dancing.

I think the show might impact on others
by my family, friends and teachers will feel
they know more about the Maori culture

what I learned about working with others
was I became more confident in sharing my
ideas and listening to others ideas.

Have you ever taken part in a show?

Maths Evidence

Maths Evidence

Hello and welcome back to Megan's blog. Today I will talk to you about my maths screencastify. For our maths evidence we had to create a doc screencastify or slide on our maths learning and showing what we learnt. Me and my friend Pieta made a screencastify of us using standard written form in addition and subtraction. Here is the screencastify.

How did you like my blog post?

MY CULTURE

MY CULTURE
Where am I from-? On my Dad’s side I am Kiwi, Scottish and British and
on my Mum's side I am Kiwi and Scottish.

What is Culture- There are many things that make up your
family culture like, the food you eat, the clothes you were, the
type of music you listen to or the type of music you
dance to, or the paintings you create.

My traditions- Every Easter Sunday we go to church with
my Grandad and after we always get McDonald’s for
breakfast. On Christmas day at dinner time on my
mum’s side we take turns going to each of my Mum’s
sister’s house’s for dinner. If it is one of my family
member’s birthday we always get choose what we
want to have for dinner.

Question-What is your family culture?

Thursday Winter Sport

Winter Sport

Every Thursday we are lucky enough to get to go to Hagley park for winter sport. We can choose out of four sports they are Netball, Rugby, Hockey and Football. I choose Netball. On the 28th of June 2018 we were lucky to go to winter sport because the last three or four Thursdays we could not go because the Rugby, Hockey and Football fields were closed and sometimes it was raining. On the 28th of June 2018 we lost that was the second time we had lost but we had improved so much from the last time we went to Thursday sport. the score was eight to twelve. We were very proud of our score because the first two quarters we were down by seven points and we managed to catch up by three points.
